In 1996 this game came second in the "Deutscher Spielepreis" contest after "El Grande".

"Entdecker" is a strategy game for 2 to 4 players. Itīs the goal of the game to discover a whole new world and gain most vitory points for the most important dicoveries. Each turn, every player gains a random amount of gold for which he can decide to buy cards containing unkown lands. These cards are placed on an empty map and as time goes by continent grow. When a player reaches land, he can decide to put an Explorer, a Fortification or a Settlement ashore. When the island is fully discovered, the player with the most expensive units on the island will get the most victory points and a dicovery chip allowing extra points. Players can decide to buy a land card containing a random event, in which case they may be challenged with Pirates or a Storm, but they may also dicover a Hidden Treasure or a Ruined City. The game is easy playing and goes only about 45 minutes, but itīs interesting.
